Session Title: Fostering Male Allyship in the Workplace
This session will provide practical solutions to engaging male colleagues to become allies in the 30 by 30 Initiative by Engineers Canada, which seeks increase the number of women with professional licenses. Evidence shows that when men are deliberately engaged in gender inclusion programs then 96% of organizations see progress. Individualistic approaches to solving gender inequities overlook systemic structural causes and reinforce the perception that these are women’s issues — effectively telling men they don’t need to be involved. The reality is that with the avid and conscious support of men, often the most powerful stakeholders in most large corporations, significant progress toward ending gender disparities will be achieved.
