Help us achieve 30 by 30 and promote EDI in Engineering

The Women in Engineering Summit (WES) is a non-profit organization that aims to empower women and gender-diverse individuals to pursue their professional designation.

During the WES annual summits we provide actionable strategies to address and overcome the most pressing issues faced in engineering workplaces, including:

- Diversity and Inclusion (e.g., allyship, bias, intersectionality, employee networks)

- Career Progression and Satisfaction (e.g., seeking and keeping jobs, leadership, promotion, professional designation, advocating for oneself)

- Wellbeing (e.g., mental health, reducing stress, mindfulness, resiliency)

- Transitions (e.g., parental leave, changing careers, returning to work)

WES goals are alignment with Engineers Canada 30 by 30 Initiative, which aims to increase the number of newly licensed professional who identify as women in Engineering to 30% by the year 2030.

WES 2024 will be held in person in Toronto and Edmonton, and online, on Friday June 7, 2024. Sponsors may be entitled to online and in person complimentary tickets for their employees (check the sponsorship benefits here).

WES is run entirely by volunteers. The idea of founder Claudia Gomez-Villeneuve, the first summit in 2018 was organized by 8 people, with 5 of them being the speakers. Today we count with incredible volunteers (engineering professionals and students) to plan and deliver the summit, 41 of them have volunteered 3 times or more.

Over the years, the summits have been competitively priced, so much so that after discounting the cost of food for in person summits from the registration fee, there is very little left to cover other costs. That is where sponsors come in, they support WES mission and genuinely believe in the value we offer to attendees (their own employees and others in the community), without sponsors we would not be able to cover the cost of venues, technology and speakers’ stipends.
