WES is run entirely by volunteers. The idea of founder Claudia Gomez-Villeneuve, the first summit in 2018 was organized by 8 people, with 5 of them being the speakers. Today we count with incredible volunteers (engineering professionals and students) to plan and deliver the summit, 41 of them have volunteered 3 times or more.

Over the years, the summits have been competitively priced, so much so that after discounting the cost of food for in person summits from the registration fee, there is very little left to cover other costs. That is where sponsors come in, they support WES mission and genuinely believe in the value we offer to attendees (their own employees and others in the community), without sponsors we would not be able to cover the cost of venues, technology and speakers’ stipends.

During the past 7 years, we have encouraged over 1,200 engineering students and professionals to support women’s career satisfaction in the Engineering practice.

WES Attendance over the years. 85 in 2018, 196 in 2019, 165 in 2020, 260 in 2020, 150 in 2022, 191 in 2023 and 184 in 2024.
